Gaskets The Answer - Cometic Used around the world in almost every form of Motorsport ever dreamed of, Cometic have distinguished themselves now over nearly two decades of success. Here at PEC, we trust them completely to look after our customers passion for their pride and joy. The Cometic MLS gasket is comprised of three layers of Stainless Steel. Cometic uses Stainless steel for increased strength, it's ability to rebound and it is of course corrosion resistant. The out layers of the gasket are embossed and coated on both sides with a flourolastomer rubber based material (Viton) designed to meet the demands of a variety of harsh sealing environments, load conditions and surface finshes. The Viton coating itself, is heat resistant to as much as 250oC!!! The centre or "shim" layer of the gasket is comprised of an uncoated Stainless Steel Layer, which can be varied to accomodate multiple thickness requirements. The MLS gasket is both ideal for all alloy engines and alloy head to iron block engines. The composition of MLS gaskets will also withstand the shearing forces created by aluminum heads on cast iron blocks. No re-torque is necessary. Byt design, the MLS gasket promotes an even torque load across the sealing surface (cylinder head to block) allowing for a measurable reduction in bore distortion. |
